 #10 – OUR FARMHOUSE’S LAUNDRY
ROOM MINI-MAKEOVER

plant on bench with books reclaimed wood door

Excerpt:  I finally got around to taking photos of our laundry room’s mini makeover.  For those of you that have been following my Fuzzybutt Farm Instagram for a while, you know that we moved into our custom-built modern farmhouse on Thanksgiving 2017.  I did the bare minimum of decorating in our laundry room simply because inspiration hadn’t struck me in the head yet.

#9 – MY DESIGN STYLE DEFINED. WELL, SORT OF …
PART I: CALIFORNIA CASUAL STYLE

modern farmhouse, foyer, brick floor, board and batten walls, interior design, entry table, money tree, basket

Excerpt: Last year, when I was discussing my vision for Sanctuary with The Hubs, he asked me what my design style actually is since it can’t really be nailed into one category.  So here’s what I came up with to best describe my current design style:

#CALISCANDIMIDMODBOBEACHCOTFARMGLAM

I know what you’re thinking – “Michelle, WTF is this word diarrhea you just crapped out?”  Sure, I could use “eclectic” as a style but what fun would THAT be? Plus, it’s so much easier to say than #caliscandimidmodbobeachcotfarmglam and I really enjoy making people squirm.

#8 – HOW TO MAKE IRON SHELF
BRACKETS LOOK LIKE AGED SATIN BRASS

Excerpt:  I’ve been wanting to write this DIY post for a while now and I’m so excited to finally share it with you!

I posted this project on my personal Fuzzybutt Farm Instagram feed almost two years ago and I STILL get lots of DMs asking where I bought our kitchen’s shelf brackets.

So I thought I’d go ahead and post the tutorial here so y’all can Pin it to your little heart’s delight.  I’m a giver like that, what can I say.

#7 – MY DESIGN STYLE DEFINED. WELL, SORT OF …
PART V: BEACH COTTAGE STYLE

farmhouse dining room, navy blue wall, shiplap, chandelier, wood dining table, west elm, wall vase, white mirror, board and batten, white dining chairs

Excerpt: By now, you’re probably thinking, “OMG.  Is this EFFING design series over yet, because I don’t have enough EFFING wine left to survive another EFFING post!!”  I feel ya, and we’re soooo EFFING close so try to EFFING hang in there a wee bit EFFING longer.  It would probably do your liver some good to drink a little water anyway …

#6 – HIGH-END LOOK FOR LESS: AMBER LEWIS INTERIORS’
CLIENT DOUBLE THUMBS UP LIVING ROOM INSPO

Excerpt:  Welcome back to my “High End Looks for Less” monthly feature where I scour the web to find interior design projects that inspire the hell out of me, but not my itty bitty bank account.

Click here to read last month’s Studio McGee edition in case you missed it – the soothing bedroom they designed is beyond gorgeous.

The majority of people (such as myself) can’t afford to replicate these high-end rooms, but we still desire to achieve the same look and those feel-good vibes these perfectly-designed rooms give us.

So my goal is to show you that with a little bit of imaginative interpretation and a LOT of product sourcing, these high-end looks can be achieved for a fraction of the inspiration room’s estimated budget!

#5 – FRENCH COUNTRY CURB APPEAL MAKEOVER
ON MY CLIENT’S “MEH” STUCCO HOUSE

Before and After French Country Curb Appeal Makeover on a Typical Florida Stucco House

Excerpt: Everyone LOVES a good Before + After story, so I thought I’d highlight a curb appeal makeover project for one of my local clients.

She completely overhauled the interior and did a gorgeous job – she just needed some help figuring out what to do with the exterior on a limited budget.

Come and take a look at how we injected some French Country flavor into the exterior of my client’s typical “meh” Florida stucco house!

#4 – STYLISH + AFFORDABLE HOME DECOR FROM
JOSS & MAIN THAT LOOKS EXPENSIVE

13 Stylish Modern Home Decor Products from Joss & Main that Look Expensive (but aren't!)Image Source:  Joss & Main

Excerpt:  My version of “relaxing” consists of doing little projects around the house that have been on my To Do list FORFRICKINGEVER.

I realize that must sound like hell to a majority of people out there, but I seriously can’t sit still for more than an hour at a time. However, when I’m working on a project, it keeps any anxiety at bay because I’m so focused on my task and it gives my weary mind a chance to rest.

But now we’re back to the Monday grind and you know what that means:  your weekly dose of affordable home decor that looks expensive (but isn’t!).

#3 – HOW TO CARE FOR YOUR FIDDLE LEAF FIG –
IT’S EASIER THAN YOU THINK!

fiddle leaf fig in white pot next to antique white buffet

Excerpt:  For way WAY too many years, I wasn’t able to enjoy having houseplants in any of our homes because – CATS.  Those hairy little A-holes would try to devour them like it was their job and they were earning extra benefits.

It didn’t matter how high up the plants were placed, the Hairy Little A-holes (awesome name for a band, by the way) would act like Cirque Du Soleil performers and nimbly jump up on everything just to wreak havoc on their poor little green-leafed victims.

#1 – STYLISH + AFFORDABLE HOME DECOR
FROM PIER ONE THAT LOOKS EXPENSIVE

Excerpt:  I took a little hiatus from my blog last week to focus on the needs of my two photography businesses.  Being a business owner can be quite rewarding, but there are many times when it sucks ass too.  Last week would definitely be in the “Sucked Major Ass” category.

Hey – it can’t be unicorns and rainbows all the time. But that’s what makes life so incredibly interesting:  getting to experience all of those unexpected ups and downs. Plus, I would get pretty tired of cleaning up my unicorn’s pink bedazzled poop all the time.  While it might look all cute and sparkly, it’s still poop just the same.

This week’s “I Spy High-End Design from:” is PIER 1!
